The goal of crafting the Looney Pinot Noir blend was to create something ultra-aromatic, but yet agile and fresh on the palate. A wine that you could age for 10 years but consume now on any occasion. I like to think of the 113 as the treble and the 777 as the bass in this song of a blend. Both meet in the middle for a balance of density and length. While both were outstanding on their own, they were meant to be together. Using a mixture of one fill and two fill barrels, the older oak helps to balance the tension of the wine while supporting the natural charisma that Looney Vineyard offers. The new Atelier barrel is one of my favorite new barrels to work with. It offers a crazy amount of texture and agility to the palate without being too arrogant. Paden West
